User Guide

Step-by-step instructions to brew your perfect cup

Installation & First Launch

Download BrewMaster from Google Play Store or GitHub. Install and open the app. The app uses a bottom navigation bar with 5 tabs:

Brew (🧮): Access Espresso, Pour Over, and French Press screens.
Learn (🎓): Coffee Education articles and XP system.
Assistant (🤖): Smart Coffee Assistant for taste troubleshooting.
Grinder (⚙️): Save grinder click settings per brew method.
Sync (🔄): Sync recipes to the cloud via Google account.

Choose Your Brew Method

On the Home screen, tap one of three brew method cards:

Espresso: Pressure extraction with fine grind, 25–30 seconds. Includes Ristretto, Espresso, and Lungo variations.
Pour Over: Filter-based brewing (V60 / Chemex) with medium grind, ~3 minutes.
French Press: Full immersion brewing with coarse grind, ~4 minutes.

Tip: Each brew method has its own recipe storage. Espresso recipes won't appear in Pour Over.

Set Parameters & Add Steps

Configure your brew parameters:

Coffee: Amount in grams.
Yield/Water: Target output in grams or ml.
Grind: Size from your Grinder Settings.
Pressure/Temp: Bar pressure or water temperature.
Type/Ratio: Ristretto/Espresso/Lungo or select ratio (1:15, 1:16, etc.).

Tap + ADD NEW STEP to build your process. Available steps include: Preheat, Add Coffee, Pour Water, Bloom, Stir, Swirl, Wait, Pre-Infusion, and Pressure.

Save & Load Recipes

Save your perfect recipe for future use:

Type a descriptive name (e.g., "Morning Espresso") in the Recipe name field.
Tap SAVE to store it in the Saved Recipes section.
LOAD & BREW: Loads parameters and takes you to Brew Instructions.
DELETE: Permanently removes the recipe.
NEW RECIPE: Clears current settings to start fresh.

Use the Brew Timer

Tap GO TO BREW INSTRUCTIONS to start guided brewing:

The current step displays in a large card with step name, water amount, and countdown timer.
Tap START to begin the countdown for the current step.
Tap SKIP to jump to the next step without waiting.
Tap RESET to restart from Step 1 at any time.
Voice guidance announces each step so you can focus on technique.

Note: The first step shows "Get Ready..." to give you time to prepare equipment.

Grinder Settings, Education & Sync

Complete your BrewMaster experience:

Grinder Settings: Enter your grinder model and save click settings for each brew method (Very Fine for Ristretto, Fine for Espresso, Medium for Pour Over, Coarse for French Press).
Coffee Education: Read articles to earn XP. Start with Basic topics (What is Coffee?, Ratios, Grind Size) before advancing to Pour Over Mastery and Troubleshooting.
Smart Assistant: Select your taste problem (Too Bitter, Too Sour, Too Weak, Flat) and get instant fix recommendations.
Cloud Sync: Go to the Sync tab, sign in with Google, and tap SYNC NOW to back up recipes. Enable "Sync on launch" for automatic backup.
